The Chesapeake Beach Civic League participates in Clean the Bay Day, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's biggest sponsored clean-up efforts.
This year, the Chic's Beach clean up will take place immediately following the neighborhood CXB 5K, encouraging neighbors and friends to grab a bucket (provided for you) and spend 30 minutes on the beach picking up litter, plastic and glass that can be harmful to both sea life and beach goers.
Clean the Bay Day, held annually the first Saturday in June, now enlists more than 7,000 volunteers to remove litter and debris from the state's waterways. From the the Shenandoah Valley to Virginia's Eastern Shore and from Northern Virginia to the North Carolina border, this impressive effort pulls more than 100 tons of trash from the Bay and its tributaries each year.
